FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
ALL AROUND CHILD’S JILL SERRANO EARNS 2010 WOMEN WHO MEAN BUSINESS HONOR
Childcare Program Director Nurtures the Future Leaders of Tomorrow
Overland Park- The Kansas City Business Journal has added All Around Child’s Program Director/Owner, Jill Serrano, to it’s list of Women Who Mean Business for 2010.
Ms. Serrano is among 25 other women to receive this professional tribute. “The Women Who Mean Business” honor is awarded each year to a select number of Kansas City’s most notable business women. Honorees must display a level of outstanding achievement in their area of profession and a dedication to assisting in the success of other business women.
Ms. Serrano is the Owner/Director of All Around Child Care, L.L.C. in Overland Park, Kansas. All Around Child is an Early Childhood Education facility that serves children ages birth through 12 years old. Serrano comments, “My professional life challenge has been how to make my Early Childhood Program stand out from the traditional corporate child care center…being family owned, operated, and oriented has been my biggest asset. After building a solid reputation and strong reciprocal relationship with my customers, next comes the challenge of building and maintaining a teaching staff that fits into our “family” concept. My staff needs to be willing and able to learn from each other as well as from their students everyday. Their ability to think outside the box brings new and exciting ideas and concepts into my business and keeps us all inspired…and when we are inspired, we can overcome any challenge.”
Serrano’s business obtained full capacity enrollment of 160 children within the first three days of business. The waiting list was so extensive that she expanded after the first year and now her school can accommodate 220 children. “Even with the wavering economy we have managed to remain stable and at the top of the list of our competitors.” Serrano has hosted fundraisers to benefit groups such as the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Habitat for Humanity, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and over the last ten years she has raised over $30,000 to benefit St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
Serrano’s business assists in the productivity and success of other business women due to the fact that mothers have a safe, nurturing, and educational place to leave their children during the work day. Career mom, Amy Capps, Event Manager at Loose Mansion, states, “We chose All Around Child for several reasons. This school came highly recommended by other families, the developmental program far surpassed other schools that we evaluated, and the staff was very helpful and sympathetic to all of my concerns. I feel that All Around Child gives me the opportunity to continue working and feel confident while I am away. I was very nervous about leaving my daughter, but I wanted to continue working if possible. Jill has provided an establishment that our daughter loves as much as we do.”
Vicki Fastnacht of Cornerstone Bank gave the nomination, “Her company offers a creative, colorful, playful learning atmosphere for young minds, which is successful due to her attention to detail and personal interest that she communicates to her staff, the children, and their parents. Her company provides a service that is foundational to the families who work and live in our community.” Serrano will be recognized in an award ceremony sponsored by at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, M&I Bank, and Johnson County Community College on August 27th.
